Gay marriage in the early church?

This is by no means a definitive exploration of the topic. I’m not trying to prove one thing or another. I just wanted to bring up the idea and see what people thought about it. Thanks for your opinions and thoughtful discussion. On the subject of straight sex in the Bible though look up WWWdotLIBCHRISTdotCOM The Bible in no way forbids sex outside marriage as many Christians tell you. Fornication refers to prostitution only! The word is derived from the word fornix – arches where prostitutes plied their trade.

    @Nickelplatealloy Actually its 7 verses, and if you read them, one was for the levites, one was for romans, and so on. It was meant for those people. The word homosexual was created in the 18th century and added to the bible by christians.

  3. Nickelplatealloy says:

    @smurfboywv ….the bible condones homosexuality??? are you reading th Kuran? Because my bible tells me in 4 different places it is wrong to carry on homosexual activity. You can’t make somethjng right just by agreeing with it.

  4. smurfboywv says:

    In reality, the Bible does not condemn homosexuality, what it does condemn is rape, sex and idolatry, as well as pride and people not helping the less fortunate. The Catholic church has condemned the gay community. Jesus would not be pleased with those so-called christians.

    wow you totally don’t know your bible. either that or your own beliefs are causing you to pervert scripture…sad

    @abbynormal0ne i do agree with you on that point. and yes, the movie was an awful portrayal of the actual events, but no one seemed to notice.

    @abbynormal0ne Here is a question, do you come to you opinions on these sorts of issues because of your interpretation of the Bible, or do you come to your opinions independently, and just have a need to find a secondary justification for you own opinions in the Bible?

    Good to receive new info.

  9. abbynormal0ne says:

    @loveofphysics I’m not fretting. :)

    I respect the fact that you do think people like me deserve equal standing in the law and in the society, but I am so glad that I can arrive at that conclusion by just realizing that I am just as human as a non-LGBT person and I don’t have to fret about what Greek or Hebrew word happens to be written in some random ancient book, but at least we agree on the issue :)

    @ProfMTH One does try, doesn’t one? *pushes up glasses with one finger but slips and pokes herself in the eye*

  12. ProfMTH says:

    @abbynormal0ne Girl, you ain’t gotta try to sound smart. You IS smart. ;-)

  13. abbynormal0ne says:

    @ProfMTH Nope! I get you, my friend. It’s all in good fun. I’m trying to sound all smart ‘n’ junk.

  14. ProfMTH says:

    @abbynormal0ne They are interesting. Very much so. I hope you didn’t mistake my comment for criticism. It wasn’t. Just talkin’. ;-)

  15. whedonfreak976 says:

    @abbynormal0ne and that is sad. church should be about faith and hope not about money, i know there are a lot of great churches but there are also some lying bums as well.

  16. Jaybird196 says:

    @abbynormal0ne I think it’s sad too. I wish more would use love or empathy instead in the church when it makes reforms (sigh).

  17. BoricuaChiTown says:

    @Gnomefro u got it! to make a religion out of Jesus and then 2 somehow create a shared identity between Jesus & the god of the old testmnt is logically impossible. In John 8 44 he even said the jews worshiped the devil! wen the people tried 2 act on the deuteronomy 22 laws on stoning an adulteress he stopped them. The authors of Revelations 2 also didn’t believe in Paul, called him a false APOSTL & praised the church of ephesus 4 having rejected him. the struggl against paul continues 2day

  18. StanMarsh1 says:

    @abbynormal0ne Indeed, I’d rather not have ‘Idiocracy’ turn into a documentary.

  19. abbynormal0ne says:

    @firesidechet Aw, you’re cute. Bless you too.

  20. abbynormal0ne says:

    @christinepeace Thanks. Glad to see you’re back home safely.

  21. abbynormal0ne says:

    @StanMarsh1 I just hope that we don’t fast forward into the 23rd century to find out we’re even more regressed.

  22. abbynormal0ne says:

    @tstruss912 I agree. Very screwy.

  23. abbynormal0ne says:

    @cyberbar20 I think the ancient aversion to homosexuality is that the early christian church was also trying to move people away from the old ways including homosexual acceptance. I don’t think this was a good move, but it is what happened, unfortunately.

  24. abbynormal0ne says:

    @deadman12078 Homosexuality is an issue because…people suck sometimes :/

  25. abbynormal0ne says:

    @HConstantine Which story?
